Ingredients
500g king prawns, shelled and de-vein
1 c self raising flour
1 tsp white pepper
1 tsp salt
1 egg
1.5 c of cold water
1/2 c cornflour
1/4 c honey
sesame seeds
1 green onion, sliced green part only
oil for deep frying
Method
Pre heat the oil in the deep fryer to 190°c
Clean the prawns and pat dry
Put the cornflour on a plate. This will be used for the first dredging.
In another bowl whisk together the flour, salt and pepper with the egg and water. This is the batter.
Now place a handful of prawns in the cornflour ensuring that each one is dusted then move them to the batter.
One at a time, remove a prawn and slowly place in the oil, do about 5 at a time.
Remove once golden, which is about 4-5 mins and let drain on absorbent paper
Repeat till all the prawns are cooked.
In a saucepan heat the honey till it’s more fluid than viscous.
Place the prawns on a large serving plate, drizzle the honey over the prawns then sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
Enjoy immediately.
